Artemisia dracunculus 'French Tarragon'
About the Tarragon 'Family': Tarragon is a perennial herb from the Asteraceae family which is widespread across most of Eurasia and North America. Tarragon is listed as one of the fines herbes of French cuisine and is the main flavouring component of Bearnaise Sauce. It is also used to make Tarragon vinegar and is a key ingredient in Potica and is very popular in Eastern Europe and Russia. The flavour is slightly anise which compliments fish or poultry very well. The plans themselves usually have slender, branched stems with elongated, glossy green leaves.
About French Tarragon: An upright, evergreen perennial herb with very aromatic, dark green foliage. French Tarragon is without a doubt the best Tarragon variety for use as a culinary herb. It doesn't usually flower or produce any seed so is grown from cuttings or root division. It has a far superior flavour and scent when compared to Russian Tarragon but is less hardy.
Grows to a height of around a 1m tall and spreads to about 35cm.

FAQ's

Is this Russian Tarragon

No, Definitely not, Russian Tarragon has it's uses but does not have any where near as good a flavour as French. This variety can not be grown from seed and we grow all of our plants from cuttings.

Maybe, we prefer our plug plants (also known as starter plants) to be potted up before going into the garden. The ideal size is a 9 cm pot, but it can be slightly smaller or larger if you would prefer. In the warmer months you may get away with planting straight out, but it is probably not worth the risk.
