About Lemon Balm: Lemon Balm is a herbaceous perennial plant from the Lamiaceae family. Native to the Mediterranean Basin and Central Asia, this plant is known for its incredible lemon scent. A hardy perennial with light green foliage which has a very strong lemony scent. The plant produces pale yellow flowers in summer which are very attractive to bees, hence the botanical name Melissa being Greek for Bee. Lemon Balm is an incredibly useful herb being used to flavour everything from cakes to soups and being most famous for making a delicious herbal lemon tea. The plant is reputed to have many medicinal uses and is used to aid both sleep and digestion.
Can grow to a height of between 70-150cm.
